Cookies and tracking

  • This website’s own code sets no cookies and does not use your browser’s storage. Google Analytics, described below, sets two cookies.
  • Apart from Google Analytics, it runs no analytics, advertising or tracking code.

What comes from other companies’ servers

Two things do. The typefaces come from Google Fonts: your browser downloads them from Google’s servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) when a page loads, so Google receives what any web request carries, such as your IP address and the kind of browser you use. Google describes how it handles those requests at developers.google.com/fonts/faq/privacy.

The Google Analytics script, described below, also comes from Google’s servers (googletagmanager.com).

Everything else, from the pages and photographs to the stylesheet and the site’s own script, comes from this website itself. There are no embedded maps, videos or social media widgets.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits, so we can see which pages are useful and how people find the site (for example, from a Google search). It records the pages you view, your approximate location (to the city), your device and browser type, how you arrived, and whether you tapped a phone number or sent a form. It never records what you type into a form. Its script comes from Google’s servers (googletagmanager.com).

It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and one beginning _ga_, so it can recognise a returning browser. They last up to two years unless you clear them.

Google processes this information for us under its terms, and Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. Google signals and advertising features are switched off, so it is not used for advertising and is not linked to a Google account. Detailed records are kept for two months, after which only totals remain.

To opt out

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, Google Analytics does not load here at all. You can also block it on every site with Google’s opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or by blocking cookies in your browser. The request forms

When you send one of the request forms, what you type into it is sent to our office so we can get back to you: your name and phone number, plus your email address and message on the longer forms and the division you pick on the contact page, along with which form you used.

It goes first to a form service that our web developer, Digital Wave Marketing Solutions, runs for us on Amazon Web Services. The service checks the request for spam and emails it to our office. For a request it emails, the service keeps only a short record that the email was sent: it notes the part of your email address after the @, but not your name, phone number, the rest of your email address or your message.

Two kinds of request are copied, with what was typed into them, into the service’s logs. One is a request its spam filter flags, so that a genuine request flagged by mistake can still be found; if the warning signs are minor, it is also emailed to us, marked for a second look. The other is a request whose email could not be sent, so that it can be passed on by hand.

Phone calls and email

Calls and emails go straight to our office and are handled the way any call or letter to the office is.

Changes

If this website adds any other outside service, or changes how it uses Google Analytics, this page will be updated at the same time.
